In March the Government published “Planning for the Future” a blueprint for planning and policy reforms, all aimed at increasing the numbers and quality of homes built across the UK. This is an important document which needs early challenge, as it will shape the direction and delivery of housing in the future.

The ‘blueprint’ and the policy ideas outlined in it have massive implications for the real estate sector more specifically the housebuilding sector, but in many cases, there is a distinct lack of details at present that prohibits a full understanding of the real implications. Certainly the continued focus on home ownership will disappoint those in the growing BTR sector.

We have assembled a first rate panel to discuss the implications of ‘Planning for the Future’. Simon Gallagher, is Director of Planning at MHCLG, and directly involved in future planning reform, and will provide us with an invaluable insight into the Government’s intentions. In addition we have differing perspectives of; Rebecca Taylor, who heads up BTR at Long Harbour a major investor in the sector, Claire Dutch the widely respected Planning Partner at Ashurst.
