'Healthy Cities: A New Agenda for UK Real Estate'

At a time of profound uncertainty for cities, the question of whether we face urban breakdown or breakthrough has never been more urgent.

Economic volatility, housing pressures, health inequalities, and climate risks are converging across the UK, placing new demands on the real estate sector to respond not only with speed, but with purpose. Health is not a peripheral concern but a foundational condition for long-term prosperity, resilience, and inclusive growth.

This Healthy Cities Breakfast Forum, delivered in association with Healthy City Design 2026, will bring together leaders from real estate, investment, development, and the public sector, to explore how health and wellbeing can be embedded at the heart of real estate decision-making.

Our expert contributors will examine the UK’s shifting landscape at the local level - a move towards neighbourhood health centres and community-based care, and also the larger scale impact of designing places and spaces at a city level that focus on health at the core. This is an important discussion, at a time when there is a unique opportunity to align health outcomes with economic value creation.

We will talk about the delivery of healthy homes and mixed-use neighbourhoods, integrating health infrastructure into place-based development, and unlocking the potential of impact investment to drive measurable social and financial returns. The panel will also explore how health-led placemaking can de-risk assets, enhance long-term value, attract capital, and support more productive, inclusive communities.

With the hypothesis that healthier places are not simply better places to live – they are more competitive, investable, and can future-proof. By reframing health as core economic infrastructure, we can challenge the industry to move beyond compliance and ESG rhetoric, towards a more integrated model of value creation. In doing so, it proposes the defining question to our sector: can the UK real estate market lead the transition from fragmented, reactive development towards a breakthrough model where health, regeneration, and investment work together to unlock sustainable growth and social opportunity?

This is a fundamentally important topic which will shape the design, nature and delivery of Real Estate in the next decade.

Join us to learn more, and to engage on the topics that mean most to the future of UK Real Estate!
