New Towns, New Opportunities 

The government’s ‘New Towns’ programme has not been without its critics, as both the private and public sectors explore how the proposed new towns and major urban extensions could be delivered.

Turning the ambition into reality will clearly require huge investment, long term focus, new delivery models and real vision.

Despite the challenges and ongoing debate, there is a massive opportunity to create new places, sustainable homes, connected infrastructure and utilities, and new centres of economic and social growth.

At this timely Breakfast Forum, we bring together leaders from across the private and public sectors - MHCLG, major developers / investors, and others, to ask the key questions and to debate how UK Real Estate can work together and with national and local government, to practically and purposively deliver the next generation of new towns.

• Who will fund the New Towns and how do we make them investable?

• What lessons can we learn from the past?
• Can government move at the speed required?
• How can existing communities’ benefit and be integral to the programme?
• How can we ensure that we create thriving, healthy places?

And so, can we use the UK's 'New Town' programme to create a new generation of places that deliver not just more homes, but more opportunity, prosperity, connectivity, and quality of life - to Live, Work, Play, and Invest?
