Experience Matters in UK Real Estate Image

‘Experience' has moved from a nice-to-have, to a defining force and central driver of investment value.

Today, the success of Real Estate is shaped not just by design quality or location, but by how spaces make people feel, interact, and behave - from everyday experiences to curated moments of connection.

Experience is dynamic, layered and deeply human.

As a result, experience-led strategies now sit at the heart of every major real estate asset class. When done well, they unlock premium rents, stronger long-term returns, and sustainable outcomes. For occupiers, they drive talent attraction, footfall, dwell time and spend, while creating places people actively choose — to work, visit and return to.

As this becomes more commonplace, the expectations on existing assets are also rising, with experience emerging as a key factor in obsolescence risks.

According to recent JLL research, two-thirds of people globally expect the places and spaces where they live, work and play, to provide more enjoyment, diverse activities, and add value to the time they spend there. Consumer willingness to pay premiums for high-quality experiences has also grown, from 65% in 2024 to 69% in 2025, with income and generational factors indicating that this will continue.

This Core Forum ‘On Location’ is centred on JLL’s compelling research 'Experience Matters’ (2025), that draws from data collected from 12,000 respondents across 19 markets and 64 cities, to provide insights into priorities and opportunities for the Real Estate sector, in relation to ‘experience’.

The event will open with a Keynote Presentation from the Report’s co-author, Ruth Hynes - Global and EMEA PDS Research Lead, who will share the main findings of the research.

Our expert panel will discuss ‘experience’ and 'expectations of experience’ across UK Real Estate, looking at how the residential, retail, offices, mixed-use sectors etc, can respond to the experience insights and deliver maximum value to the developer, investor, and occupier - whether customer, consumer, or employee.

The trends in the Report demonstrate the intricacies of what humans want to experience in the places / buildings they visit.  This event is hugely timely, and invaluable to those investing in, designing, developing, and occupying UK Real Estate. It is designed to inform and challenge, to keep us ahead in an ever fast-changing world, where technology possibilities, sustainability necessities, and a re-appreciation of our sensory environments, will need to be priorities for all Real Estate organisations to future-proof and drive continued success.
