11TH BTR FORUM
One Day Conference – Thursday 2nd October 2025

The Build to Rent Forum, now in its eleventh year, is organised by Movers & Shakers, and is unrivalled as 'the UK's leading BTR / Rented Living Conference!'

This highly successful, authoritative, one day (content-driven) event, brings together Key Leaders from the Private and Public sectors, for top-level conversations and debate, to share knowledge and understanding, to collaborate, and to generate better outcomes for people, places, and business!

Since its inception in 2014, the Forum has established itself as a powerful, yet authentic,  platform for the advancement and development of BTR and the rented sector; and has been a sell-out event each year!

Theme for 2025

Build to Rent, ‘Rented Living’, is well established in the UK, growing, developing, and broadening its appeal.

According to JLL, over the last six months almost £3.4bn has been invested in UK Built to Rent (BTR), reaching a three year high. More than 17,000 BTR homes were completed in the year to Q1 2025, as BTR continues to contribute significantly to UK housing delivery.

The BTR sector continues to grow, with more than 230,000 homes across the UK operational or in development. But operational BTR still accounts for just 2% of rental stock compared with almost half in the United States.

Despite the challenges around viability, the regulatory landscape, and funding, there remains enormous potential. So, it is timely to explore what comes next for the UK rented living sector!

Our theme for 2025: ‘Next Generation - Rented Living’

At this year’s conference, via a series of keynotes, presentations, case studies and panel sessions, we will be exploring a number of key themes, including:

  • Global Living Social Trends – Globally, what is driving social change, what impact will this have on lifestyles, the way we work, the way we live, and our priorities?
  • Global Living Investment Universe – How is Rented Living being funded across the globe, what are the origins of capital, how is the UK competing for funds, what does the future look like?
  • UK Rented Living – Making it Fundable – How does the UK attract international capital flows, what models are working, what is viable, what are the routes to market?
  • Creating Places, Driving Economic Growth – What part can Rented Living play in, driving economic growth, being the catalyst for major regeneration and delivering transformative change

  • Next Generation Rented Living – What is next, what is the latest thinking, what models are emerging, what does the future look like?
  • Getting it Built – The challenges of building new homes is well known, modular construction has had its challenges, the regulatory landscape is creating major hurdles, costs are also an issue!  So how do we get it built, what’s working?

In addition, we will be looking at the challenges of delivering ‘Affordable Homes’ on scale, the impact and potential of ‘New Technology’ and how ‘Operating Returns’ can be optimised.

The BTR Forum has always attracted the leaders from the Private & Public sectors, and this year will be no exception.

There will be plenty of time for networking throughout the day, and the conference will culminate with a Drinks Reception, bringing everyone together.
